Orcas are the oceans smartest hunters and sometimes will go to great lengths so hunt seals and other creatures. This time a mother orca off the coast of British Columbia went a little too far.
Luckily for this Orca her rescuers where there when she beached herself on the rocky coast. They were also wise about how to save her, and immediately covered her with blankets and soaked them to keep her nice and wet.
The rescuers kept her wet for over 8 hours until the tide began to rise. There really was no other option but to wait.
Lifting her out was not an option as she was too heavy and stuck in an awkward location. They just had to be patient for the tide to rise.
After the tide rose high enough she was able to float a bit and wiggle herself free from the rocks. As she swam off you can tell she was happy and sprayed a blast of water in the air as sort of a “thanks guys”!
A stranded orca in B.C. was saved by volunteers who kept it cool for 8 hours. Click here for the full story: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/s…
