Gertrude Weaver is born on the 4th of July and lives in a care facility in Arkansas. As the oldest living American, she says “You have to follow God. Don’t follow anyone else. Be obedient and follow the laws and don’t worry about anything. I’ve followed him for many, many years and I ain’t tired.”
Susannah eats bacon, grits, and scrambled eggs for breakfast every day. The only health problem she has encountered in her 115 years is high blood pressure and vision loss due to glaucoma. LIving in New York, this feisty young woman loves lacy lingerie, saying, “You can never get too old to wear fancy stuff.”
From Michigan, Jeralean lives with her daughter after her husband of 52 years passed away. She says, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, that’s my way of living,” she told a Michigan news affiliate in 2013.”
Born at the turn of the century, the Italian born Emma was born in November of 1899. Her diet consists of one raw egg and one cooked egg per day, per the advice given to her at the age of 20 by her doctor. Dinner includes a glass of milk and she gets plenty of sleep. She lives by the old adage “early to bed, early to rise, going to bed at 7pm and getting up before 6am.
