Dennis, 85, and Audrey Fleetwood, 77 were inseparable for 54 years of their lives, even spending their very last moments on Earth together. The two passed away while holding hands, something very similar to the epic film “The Notebook.” “They pushed mum’s bed in to dad’s room and took the middle barriers down so they could lie together. They put a pillow between them so they could hold hands comfortably.”
For months, Audrey Fleetwood was in and out of hospitals due to an infection, while Dennis suffered from mild dementia. He was admitted to the same hospital as his wife on November 17th, 2016 due to a case of aspiration pneumonia. Nurses wheeled Audrey’s bed into his room when they realized things had taken a turn for the worse.
A day later, Dennis passed away while holding the hand of his soulmate. Son Paul said, “We told him he was holding mum’s hand and it was okay, once we said that he stopped struggling and moving around and was peaceful.” Paul had his wish of being next to the love of his life one last time.
“And after Dad died, she just slipped away – I like to think they both went together,” said son Paul. Dennis told his son that he didn’t want to live a day without Audrey on this Earth, so she waited for him to pass before doing the same. There is a such thing as true love if these two are any indication!
