It’s heartwarming to see officers in action doing good for the community in which they serve. In times like these, where relations with the police and their communities are tense, it’s important to remember that we’re all human and that empathy is key in upholding a strong relationship.
This is Officer James Hurst and he serves in the Savannah-Chatman Police Department in Georgia. Outside of a hospital, Officer Hurst was called to tend to a 1-year-old baby who was found alone outside!
Springing into action, Hurst came to the child’s aid and held the baby as he cried uncontrollably. A father of two himself, Hurst felt the pain of the baby as he held him in his arms. “I just knew this child needed somebody to be there for him. It was just human instinct; humanity,” said Hurst. What a proud moment for this police department!
